The number of police officers injured in the riots in Washington has been determined

More than 50 U.S. law enforcement officers were injured during the riots in Washington after supporters of U.S. President Donald Trump began to storm the Capitol. This was stated in a statement by Capitol Police Chief Steven Sand, published on the official website.

Several of them were hospitalized with serious injuries, he stressed. “The brutal attack on the U.S. Capitol was unlike anything I have ever seen in my 30 years in law enforcement here in Washington, D.C.,” Sande explained.

He noted the professionalism and dedication of the Capitol Police officers, calling their actions heroic. The police chief also noted that the rioting was a criminal act of rebellion.

The same report indicated that the police officer who shot a female veteran during the Capitol assault has been placed on leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The victim was immediately treated and taken to a hospital, where she later died of her injuries.

Earlier, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) publicly requested help from Americans: its director Christopher Wray urged anyone who could provide data on the participants in the Capitol assault. American citizens were urged to give law enforcement officers pictures and videos of rioters and give any information they knew that could help identify the protesters.

On January 6, protesting Republican supporters stormed the Capitol building and surrounded the Senate chamber. The Senate and the House of Representatives interrupted a session to approve the results of the last election. According to this, Democrat Joe Biden won the presidential election. During the protests, four people were killed and police detained nearly 70.
