The head of the NASA manned program, Kathy Leaders, said that the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration plans to use the International Space Station (ISS) until 2030. She announced this at The 2021 Humans to Mars summit.
“The ISS is an important project for us, we continue to use the station and hope to continue until 2030, now we are trying to extend its use period in order to further develop and test systems that will help us in our mission to land a man on the Moon,” she said.
Earlier it was reported that the commission on the safety of the ISS project participating countries during the next meeting decided to recommend extending the operation of the ISS after 2024.
Currently, the completion date of the station is set for 2024, but the possibility of extending its operation until 2028 or even until 2032 is being discussed.
