Belarus declared two British diplomats persona non grata and expelled them from the country.
This was reported in the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, BelTA informs.
In the Foreign Ministry of Belarus, British military attache White Boycott Timothy and Deputy Ambassador Lisa Tumwood were accused of the “destructive nature of the activity.
“On November 8, 2020, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus decided to declare two diplomats of the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Belarus persona non grata in view of activities incompatible with the status of a diplomatic agent, as well as with the objectives of being in the Republic of Belarus,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Anatoly Glaz.
At the same time, Belarus called such a decision “forced” and stressed that “they do not close the doors for dialogue with their British colleagues and leave them open”.
ONT reported that, according to law enforcement agencies, British diplomats allegedly collected information about the domestic political situation in Belarus and the course of protests.
Both diplomats had already left the territory of Belarus.
