The EU: coronavirus COVID-19 will remain with humanity for a long time

The virus has adapted very well to the human body, in connection with which it may be necessary to adjust the vaccine, the head of the ECDC believes.

The  COVID-19 will remain with humanity for a long time, despite vaccinations and a decrease in the number of infected. This was stated by the head of the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) Andrea Ammon, AFP reported on Friday, February 12.

According to Ammon, the virus has adapted very well to the human body, and therefore the vaccine may need to be adjusted over time.

In addition, the head of the ECDC urged countries to remain vigilant about the infection and be prepared for the fact that it will not be possible to completely eliminate it.

“We must be prepared for it (the coronavirus) to stay with us,” Ammon warned.

According to the latest data, 108.7 million people were infected with COVID-19 in the world, of which 80.7 million recovered and almost 2.4 million died of complications of the disease caused by  infection.

As reported, for the first time in six months, the British managed to take the  epidemic under control — the virus reproduction rate was less than one.
