The heads of the defense ministries of NATO member states plan to begin construction of a space center in Germany. This is reported by the Sueddeutsche Zeitung.
According to the newspaper, they want to place the center at the Ramstein airbase, located in the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
The media clarifies that the ministers will announce their plans on Thursday, October 22. The center is supposed to become a “focal point for observing outer space.” It also clarifies that the enterprise can be converted into a command center for the adoption of defense measures.
In addition, according to the agency DPA, it is expected to create a “kind of analytical center” of the alliance, which will deal with the study of space activities.
