Turkish President Recep Erdogan said that the country plans to become a world leader in the production of drones. He said this during a speech at a flat glass production plant in Ankara province.
“Turkey has modernized its fleet of drones thanks to the Akinci UAV. With the development of a domestic unmanned fighter aircraft, this fleet will become a leader in the world, ” he said.
Earlier, Erdogan announced the entry into service of the Turkish army of the latest drone.
Before that, Turkey announced plans to continue military-technical cooperation with Russia, including on the S-400 anti-aircraft missile system.
Russia and Turkey signed a contract for the supply of a regimental set of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems in 2017, the Turkish side received the complexes in the summer-autumn of 2019. In the United States, this deal was perceived negatively and insisted that Ankara abandon its plans.
