Chinese citizens will be able to have up to three children — the corresponding decree was adopted by the Communist Party of the People’s Republic of China.
Thus, the authorities are trying to slow down the rapid aging of the country. This measure is more of a political nature, rather than actually give a demographic and economic result — the Chinese have changed their priorities, and they no longer want to have many children, say Sinologists. However, the aging of China will not slow down its economic growth, experts believe.
Chinese authorities have allowed married couples to have up to three children-after census data showed a sharp decline in the birth rate. According to the Xinhua news agency, the decision was approved by Chinese President Xi Jinping at a meeting of top Communist Party officials.
Earlier, in 2016, China decided to relax the ban on the birth of up to two children for all families. Now, following a meeting of the standing committee of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the emphasis is on “promoting and supporting” the birth rate.
