Chinese authorities have allowed married couples to have up to three children-after census data showed a sharp decline in the birth rate. According to the Xinhua news agency, the decision was approved by Chinese President Xi Jinping at a meeting of top Communist Party officials.
Earlier, in 2016, China decided to relax the ban on the birth of up to two children for all families. Now, following a meeting of the standing committee of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the emphasis is on “promoting and supporting” the birth rate.
