WHO: “British” strain of coronavirus is spreading faster than usual

World Health Organization (WHO) expert Maria van Kerckhove said that the “British” strain of  is spreading faster than the normal variant of the infection.

“The latest data show that the normal variant is not spreading as fast as the strain identified in the UK. And here we rely on the reproductive number, which has increased from 1.1 to 1.5,” the report said.

The expert stressed that there is no difference in how the virus spreads.

“There is no change as to how we should confront this variant,” the report said.

She noted that the new strain of  has no increased lethality.
