Trump was impeached

The U.S. House of Representatives impeached U.S. President Donald Trump, reports CNBC.

The impeachment resolution contains only one article of impeachment — incitement to insurrection.

222 congressmen voted to impeach Trump, while 197 lawmakers voted against it.

The resolution must now be considered by the Senate. In order to declare Trump impeached, 67 out of 100 senators should vote for the document. Meanwhile, Republicans have not yet agreed to recall the Senate from recess before the inauguration of U.S. President-elect Joe Biden, which will take place on January 20.

Earlier, it was reported that the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday, January 13, began considering the impeachment of incumbent President Donald Trump.
