Giving the vaccine to young, healthy people can do more harm than good
The British authorities will not vaccinate children and youth against coronavirus. The vaccine will be given first of all to people over 50 years.
This was stated by the head of the UK government task force on vaccines, Kate Bingham, Financial Times reports.
According to her, the coronavirus vaccine will be given to about 30 million British citizens, whose population is about 67 million people.
Vaccination of people under 18 years of age will not be carried out, as the introduction of the vaccine to young healthy people can “do more harm than good”, explained Kate Bingham.
She said more people will only be able to be vaccinated if the drug’s effectiveness is close to 95 percent.
