The popular Telegram application has been downloaded over 1 billion times worldwide. This is reported by the TechCrunch portal, referring to the Sensor Tower data.
The messenger was launched at the end of 2013. He joined the ”elite club” of those who exceeded the billion mark on August 27.
It is reported that the largest share of app downloads (22%) is in India. It is followed by Russia and Indonesia (10% and 8%, respectively).
Telegram has become the 15th application that has been downloaded more than 1 billion times. The list also includes WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat, Spotify, Netflix, and other applications.
In January 2021, Telegram was recognized as the most downloaded non-gaming application in the world. Then, in a month, the messenger was downloaded over 63 million times. This figure is almost four times higher than last year’s figures for the same period.
It also became known that Telegram became the second most downloaded application in the United States.
