According to the Kremlin press service, French President Emmanuel Macron discussed the escalation of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh with Russian leader Vladimir Putin by telephone. The conversation took place at the initiative of Paris.
“The parties thoroughly discussed the sharp aggravation of the situation in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Serious concern was expressed in connection with the ongoing large-scale hostilities. The Presidents considered specific steps for further interaction, primarily in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group,” the press service said.
In addition, Putin and Macron again discussed the situation in Belarus after the presidential elections. The Russian president noted that Moscow has “a principled position on the inadmissibility of any attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of the republic and external pressure on the legitimate authorities.”
