Joint military exercises of Russia and China began in the northwest of China

Joint Russian-Chinese strategic military exercises “West / Cooperation — 2021” began in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in the northwest of China, involving 10 thousand soldiers of the two countries. Xinhua News Agency reported about it on Monday with reference to the Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China (CMC PRC).

The joint exercises are designed to deepen cooperation between the Russian and Chinese militaries in anti-terrorism activities and to demonstrate the strength and firm determination of and to jointly ensure global and regional security and stability, the agency specified.

Participants in the exercise were organized into two air units and 13 land units formed from Russian and Chinese military personnel.

The aerial part of the parade to mark the start of the exercises included four of the PLA Air Force’s newest fifth-generation J-20 (“Jian-20”) fighter jets, as well as Y-20 military transport aircraft (“Yun-20”).

The maneuvers will last until August 13. On the Russian side, the exercises will be attended by servicemen of the formations of the Eastern Military District. The exercise will be conducted jointly by the commands of the military contingents of the two countries.
