The European Union will introduce coronavirus vaccination passports in mid-June, and Italy will start applying its own “green passes” a month earlier — in the second half of May.
This was stated by Prime Minister Mario Draghi at a press conference following a video conference of the G20 tourism ministers, La Reppublica reports.
“The European green pass will be ready in the second half of June. Meanwhile, the Italian government has introduced a national green pass, which will take effect from the second half of May, “ the prime minister said.
According to him, travelers want to visit Italy, and Italy is ready to welcome the whole world again.
“I have no doubt that tourism in our country will become stronger again than before,” Draghi said.
He added that the national pass will allow you to travel without restrictions to other European countries.
“Thanks to the Italian vaccination passport, tourists will be able to travel from one country to another without quarantine, if they can prove that they are not sick with COVID, vaccinated, or have a negative test,” he added.
Earlier, the European Commission officially called for the easing of restrictions on entry into the European Union for “non-essential reasons” and for the first time proposed to let foreign tourists into the countries.
