In Tanzania, 15 people die of an unknown disease

An unknown disease has claimed the lives of at least 15 Tanzanians, writes Anadolu Agency, citing representatives of the country’s health system.

They reported that the infection caused those infected to vomit with blood. Most of the patients are men with stomach ulcers and liver diseases.

At the moment, more than 50 people have been hospitalized. Those who did not seek medical attention in a timely manner have died, said Chunya County Chief Physician Felista Kisandu.

He clarified that the outbreak has so far been recorded only in one administrative district. A group of medical experts was sent there.

According to records at the Mbeya General Medical Directorate, an outbreak of a similar disease was recorded in 2018.
