German Foreign Minister Maas said that Biden refused to impose sanctions against Nord Stream AG and its management
Germany confirmed the plans of the United States administration to lift sanctions against Nord Stream AG (the operator of Nord Stream 2)and its management.
This was stated at a press conference by German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, reports Reuters.
“There is a presidential waiver for Nord Stream 2 and its CEO, who is a German citizen,” he said.
Earlier, the media reported that the new US President Joe Biden is not ready to break with Germany because of the “Nord Stream-2”.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Washington’s position on the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline in Europe remains unchanged, they remain firmly opposed to this Russian project, which contributes to undermining security in the region.
