Two candidates are currently running for the post of Director-General, one of them will be chosen by the end of October.

Former World Bank Managing Director Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and South Korean Minister of Commerce Yoo Myung Hee qualified for the final round.

Note that the third stage of consultations will begin on October 19 and will last until October 27.

Recall that the WTO CEO announced his resignation back in May 2020. He stated that “this decision was not easy” and explained that he had discussed it with his family. Later it became known that he was leaving to work for Pepsi.
