The management of the metro of Mexico City decided to pay 650 thousand pesos (about $32.6 thousand) to the families of those who died when the metro bridge collapsed in the south of the city on Monday. This was announced on Saturday, May 8, at a press conference in a video format, the head of the city’s leadership, Claudia Scheinbaum.
“To date, we have managed to achieve that the compensation will be at least 650 thousand pesos,” she said.
Also, she said that the city authorities will take over the payment of bills from the hospitals of the victims of the disaster.
The victims of the tragedy were 26 people, dozens were injured. 33 people remain in medical institutions, 12 of them are in serious condition.
Recall that the incident occurred on the 12th line of the Mexico City metro on May 3 at 22.25 local time between the stations “Olivos” and “Tesco”. Two railway carriage fell from a height of about 10 m.
