Britain has had the highest number of daily deaths from COVID-19 since March

Over the past 24 hours, 23,511 new cases of COVID-19 and another 131 deaths related to the  have been registered in the UK.

This is reported by Sky News.

The number of infections is decreasing for the seventh day in a row. But this is the highest number of daily deaths since March 17, when 141 deaths were registered.

The total number of people who died in the within 28 days after testing positive for COVID is 129,303 people.

Separate figures released by the Office for National Statistics show that there have been 154,000 deaths in the since the start of the pandemic, where the  was mentioned on the death certificate.

The number of patients with COVID-19 in British hospitals is also steadily growing and today stands at 5,918 people, which is also the highest figure since March.

The has one of the highest official death rates from COVID-19 in the world, but vaccination and quarantine have significantly reduced this figure since March.

Most of the coronavirus restrictions in the country were lifted on July 19.
