New US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke to the foreign ministers of Great Britain and Germany by telephone and discussed climate change, Russia, China, and Iran with them. This is according to a statement from the State Department.
“Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab. They reaffirmed the special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom. They discussed the U.K. G7 presidency, multilateral engagement on climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic, and shared foreign policy priorities including the People’s Republic of China, Iran, and Russia,” the statement said.
Blinken also spoke with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas to discuss strengthening U.S.-German cooperation to promote “common security, values, and prosperity.”
Earlier, the new head of the State Department said that the international community “needs U.S. leadership.”
