Afghanistan's president prepares to leave the country

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani may soon address the residents of the country due to the worsening situation. In addition, he may leave the country soon, according to the Lebanese TV channel Al Mayadeen, citing sources.

The Afghan media and the country’s official authorities have neither confirmed nor denied this information so far.

Militants of the radical Taliban movement (banned in Russia) have already taken control of the city of Pul-Elam, the capital of Logar province. The city is 50 kilometers from Kabul. Now only four large cities, including the capital, are under the control of the official government.

In connection with the rapid offensive of terrorists, the American authorities announced the decision to send some troops to Kabul to help evacuate the U.S. Embassy.
