The coronavirus vaccines of the four companies may be ready for use in the near future.
This was stated by the Executive Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Soumya Swaminathan during a speech at a special meeting of the UN General Assembly on the fight against coronavirus.
According to her, there are now about 150 candidate vaccines at different stages of development.
“About 50 of them are currently in clinical trials, and as we have seen in recent weeks, at least 15 of them are in their final stages of testing,” Swaminathan said.
At the same time, Sarah Gilbert, a professor at Oxford University, said that people need to be provided with objective information about vaccines.
Recall that the coronavirus vaccine, which was developed by the American company Moderna, gives immunity for at least three months.
By the way, the effectiveness of the Moderna coronavirus vaccine in the initial analysis was 94.1%, and in severe cases of the disease — 100%.
