The European Union continues to support the illegal blockade of the Venezuelan people, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreasa said on November 12 on his Twitter page.

The official added that even in the current circumstances, the EU continues to follow the course prescribed by US President Donald Trump. The Venezuelan foreign minister called the policy “cruel” and “unsuccessful,” adding that it had a flavor of “dissatisfied colonialism.”
Recall that on November 12, the European Union extended the sanctions regime against Venezuela until November 14, 2021. Among other things, these measures include an arms embargo and travel bans, as well as an asset freeze of 36 people holding official positions in the Venezuelan government, whom the Council of the European Union considers responsible for human rights violations and undermining democracy in the country.
Venezuelan officials have repeatedly stressed that the US and European unilateral coercive measures entail human rights violations by limiting the country’s residents’ access to essential resources — food and medicine.
