UN Security Council held a meeting on Karabakh

Members of the UN Council are quite unanimous in their views on the Nagorno-Karabakh , the interim chairman of the body said.

At a closed meeting, representatives of the UN Security Council countries discussed the need to monitor the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh. This was announced on Monday, October 19, at a briefing by Vasily Nebenzya, ’s Permanent Representative to the UN, presiding over the Council in October.

“Now it is necessary to ensure the implementation of the ceasefire — this is the most pressing issue since the corresponding agreement was reached, but not observed. The main issue remains how to ensure control over its implementation,” Nebenzya said.

He stressed that the members of the Council are quite unanimous in their views on the Karabakh conflict.

According to the politician, both the UN observation mission and the OSCE mission can monitor compliance with the “silence” regime.

“Who will be there, in what capacity — is still a question that is being discussed,” he added.

Let us remind you that earlier Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused the authorities of the USA, Russia, and of providing military assistance to Armenia. According to him, he supports Azerbaijan but does not supply its army with weapons.
