UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was vaccinated against the coronavirus.
He announced this on his Twitter page.
“I was fortunate to receive my first dose of COVID-19 vaccine today. With this pandemic, none of us can feel safe until we are all safe,” he wrote.
Guterres said the world needs to take all necessary measures to make the coronavirus vaccine available to everyone.
By the way, the UN secretary-general said earlier that the coronavirus pandemic showed significant gaps in international cooperation. Therefore, many developed countries, when procuring vaccines against COVID-19, did not take poor countries into account.
Recall that the World Health Organization (WHO) called on wealthy nations to share the vaccine with COVAX (“Covax”), which aims to provide all countries with a vaccine against the coronavirus in an equitable manner.
