Typhoon capsizes ship off China coast

Two people were killed off the southern coast of China, and four more are reported missing as a result of an accident with a dry cargo ship that capsized in the Qiongzhou Strait under the influence of typhoon Nangka. It was reported by Xinhua on Wednesday, October 14.

“A sand carrier with 10 crew members capsized at about 20:00 on Tuesday in the Qiongzhou Strait when it was heading for the city of Guangzhou in southern China’s Guangdong province,” the statement said.

Rescuers found six crew members. The death of two of them was later confirmed. Rescue work continues.

It is indicated that Typhoon Nangka has become the 16th in a row this year. The night before, he went ashore near the city of Qionghai, Hainan province, with maximum wind speed near the epicenter of 90 kilometers per hour.

Earlier, Hurricane Delta hit the US South. The main blow fell on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico in the Louisiana region. In less than 12 hours, almost 45 centimeters of precipitation fell.
