The European division of the Japanese company Toshiba was subjected to a cyber attack by the DarkSide group, which is called the culprit of the attack on the American Colonial Pipeline, according to the NHK television network.
Toshiba said it would investigate the incident.
Before that, the Colonial Pipeline announced that a cyberattack on its systems was carried out using a ransomware virus. This virus, when it enters a computer system, temporarily blocks its operation. The fraudsters program then encrypts the data and demands that the money is transferred to the hackers’ account. According to American publications, the attackers were able to steal up to 100 GB of company data.
