Time for Turkey to discuss new constitution — Erdogan

The country can begin to develop a new constitution. The finished text will be presented to the people. Also, Turkey needs reforms.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan suggested starting work on a new constitution for the country, NTV agency reported.

“Perhaps it’s time for Turkey to discuss the new constitution again,” the head of state said.

According to him, this process “should be implemented transparently” and the final text of the document should be presented “at the discretion of the nation.”

“The final text should be presented at the discretion of the nation. We will begin to take the necessary concrete steps in the Assembly on legislative issues and in our presidency on administrative issues,” Erdogan said.

In addition, the head of Turkey announced the need for reforms in the country.

“We will soon share with the public a comprehensive study that includes the philosophy, goals, objectives, and activities of our reform packages,” the president promised.
