Lukashenko’s rival and the German chancellor will meet on Tuesday.
After the meeting with Macron, Belarusian opposition activist Svetlana Tikhanovskaya is preparing to negotiate with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. She intends to discuss with German mediation in resolving the crisis in Belarus.
She told the German media about it.
It should be noted that Tihanovskaya’s meeting with Merkel is to take place on October 6 in Berlin.
“I would like to discuss with her what she and Germany, as an important country, can do in our case. When Germany expresses its intention to act as a mediator in negotiations between our authorities and people in Belarus, it is a very good sign for the whole world,” Tikhanovskaya said.
On September 23 Alexander Lukashenko unexpectedly held a closed inauguration and assumed the post of the president. He took the oath of office in the presence of his closest circle. Many countries of the world have already refused to recognize Lukashenko’s legitimacy: the USA, Great Britain, Canada, EU countries note that Belarusian elections were rigged, were not fair and transparent. Tikhanovskaya also commented on Lukashenko’s inauguration.
