According to the police, during the detention, law enforcement officers used firearms and hit the attacker in the leg. According to official information, his life is not in danger.
Later, the police announced that the attacker was a 24-year-old man from Somalia, who had been living in Wurzburg since 2015. According to the publication, his name is Djibril A. and he was known to the police in the past, but not because of politically motivated crimes.
He was recently registered in a homeless shelter.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Bavaria, the man has already turned to violence.
Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann said that the victims of the attack were “mostly women”, “of different ages”, but the motive of the attacker is not exactly known.
According to Herrman, one of the witnesses claims that he heard the criminal shouting “Allahu Akbar”.
