The world's largest container ship Ever Ace has passed the Suez Canal

The world’s largest container ship Ever Ace with a length of 400 meters passed through the Suez Canal for the first time, according to the data of the Marine Traffic portal.

The ship under the flag of Panama left the shipyard this year. It is moving from to the Netherlands.

The EverAce, ordered in 2019 and delivered on July 29 to Evergreen Marine by Samsung Heavy Industries, has a total capacity of 23,992 containers (TEU). The length of the vessel is 400 meters, the width is 61.5 meters.

In March, a giant ship that ran aground — the 400-meter container ship Ever Given by Evergreen Marine-blocked the Suez Canal. The ship was stranded for almost a week, the losses of world trade in connection with the ”traffic jam“ were estimated at billions of dollars.

This is the second such accident in the history of the channel: in 2004, the Tropic Brilliance tanker with a more modest weight of 89 thousand tons sat stranded for three days until about 25 thousand tons of oil were pumped out of the tanks.
