The head of Finland expressed concern about the transfer of Russian troops to Ukraine, while Putin accused Kyiv of provocations.
Finnish President Sauli Niinisto and Russian President Vladimir Putin held telephone talks on Tuesday, April 13, during which they discussed the deployment of Russian troops to the border with Ukraine. This is reported by the press service of the President of Finland.
The interlocutors also spoke about the tense situation on the Crimean Peninsula.
“President Niinisto expressed serious concern about the escalation of the situation with the transfer of troops and stressed the need to discuss and take measures to reduce tensions,” the statement said.
At the same time, the Kremlin press service reported that Putin accused Kyiv of “provocations” and “purposeful aggravation of the situation on the line of contact.”
It is worth noting that Russia does not notice the position of Kyiv on the settlement of the conflict in the Donbas through negotiations and continues to accuse of escalating the situation and strengthening the troops. At the same time, the mass transfer of their troops to the borders of Ukraine in the Russian Federation is called their internal affair. Moreover, Moscow refuses to take part in the OSCE meeting and explain its military activity.
