The Pentagon plans to radically strengthen the Navy

The US Navy will have new unmanned ships and submarines, and the number of aircraft carriers is likely to decline.

The US Department of Defense plans to increase the number of naval vessels to 530. This was announced on Friday, September 25, Defense News reported citing department documents.

According to the Study on the Naval Forces of the Future, which the publication refers to, the American navy should become lighter, with more land warships and fewer aircraft carriers. The Navy will have new unmanned ships, submarines, and an expanded logistics network.

US Defense Secretary Mark Esper also hinted at the enlargement of the navy.

“It will be a balanced force, consisting of more than 350 ships — manned and unmanned — which will be built on time and taking into account the budget,” the newspaper quoted him as saying.

Esper also added that it is necessary to build such ships that will be controlled by a person but can also be completely autonomous, depending on the scenarios of the fighting.
