The number of coronavirus victims in the world has exceeded one million. This is evidenced by data from Johns Hopkins University, which is updated on the website in real-time.
According to the university, 1,000,555 deaths of coronavirus patients have been recorded worldwide. The United States ranks first in terms of the number of victims — 205,031 people died there. Then there are Brazil (142 thousand) and India (95.5 thousand).
In total, 33,273,720 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the world. The leader in the total number of cases is also the United States (7.1 million people). In the second and third places are India (six million) and Brazil (4.7 million).
At the same time, 23,056,480 patients have already recovered. Of these, more than five million people are in India, 4.1 million are in Brazil, and 2.7 million have recovered in the United States.
Earlier, Michael Ryan, Director of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Health Emergencies Program, questioned the coronavirus mortality statistics. According to Ryan, the official figures are likely to be below real figures.
