The Dutch government has extended the night curfew aimed at slowing the spread of the coronavirus until March 2.
Reported by RTL.
The curfew in the country runs from 9:00 pm to 4:30 am the next day.
The government emphasizes that if this quarantine measure becomes unnecessary, the curfew may be canceled earlier.
The curfew, introduced in the Netherlands for the first time since World War II, sparked several days of unrest when it took effect on 23 January.
The number of new cases of coronavirus in the Netherlands is declining after months of quarantine measures, but the government warns that a wave of new infections is approaching due to new, more infectious variants of the coronavirus.
In the first six days of the curfew in the Netherlands, 11,582 people were fined for taking to the streets without good reason.
