Former French President Valerie Giscard d’Estaing was hospitalized in Tours in the west of the country. This was announced on Monday, November 16, by the newspaper La Nouvelle Republique.

It is reported that the ex-president was taken to the hospital on an early evening the night before, November 15, from his residence in the city of Auton (department of Loire and Cher).

This year, on September 14, the 94-year-old politician was admitted to a Paris hospital with a lung infection. At that time, he underwent a course of treatment and was discharged on 17 September.

Valerie Giscard d’Estaing is 94 years old. He is the longest-lived French president.

Giscard d’Estaing was President of from 1974 to 1981. He also participated in the liberation of Paris during World War II.

Under him, large-scale state projects were launched in France. Among them — the construction of high-speed railways and new nuclear power plants. Also, under d’Estaing, political censorship in cinema was abolished, and the voting age was lowered from 21 to 18 years. During his presidency in France, abortion was legalized and divorce procedures were simplified.
