On Thursday, the lower house of the Czech parliament will vote on a vote of no confidence in the government of Prime Minister Andrej Babis.
This is reported by Czech Radio.
Five opposition parties will announce a vote of no confidence, said the SPOLU coalition, which includes the ODS, KDU, and TOP09 parties, as well as the Pirates and the STAN movement.
The reason, according to them, is the suspicion of a conflict of interests between the Prime Minister and the head of the ANO movement, Andrei Babis, the government’s actions to combat the coronavirus epidemic, as well as the fact that the Communists officially broke the agreement on cooperation with the minority government.
According to Prime Minister Andrej Babis, President Zeman once again expressed support for the Cabinet of Ministers headed by him. Four months before the elections, it is not profitable for anyone to provoke the destabilization of the government, Babis said.
The prime minister said that the Communists will decide on their position on the vote of no confidence in the government, which will be voted on Thursday, the same day on June 3.
Babis said that President Zeman still holds the position that the Babis government will rule until the October elections, even if it loses the confidence of the parliament.
The government, Babis noted, intends to focus on vaccinating the population, preparing for the return of children to school after the holidays, and testing citizens for coronavirus.
