China got scared of frozen food

In the capital of China — Beijing — they were scared of frozen food and decided to restrict the import of food from regions with a high risk of coronavirus infection. According to Bloomberg, this is done out of fears that COVID-19 could be transmitted through the packaging of goods.

The authorities in Beijing gave the corresponding order to the companies after two workers unloading frozen seafood fell ill in the port of Qingdao. Imports were restricted from Russia and Brazil. In addition, the import of plants is also limited: this applies to goods from Ecuador, Indonesia, and Brazil. However, there is no evidence yet that the virus can live on the packaging.

Similar restrictions were imposed in the middle of August in Guangzhou, the capital of the most populated Chinese province of Guangdong. The import of frozen meat, fish, and seafood is limited there.

According to WHO, the virus cannot be transmitted to humans from the surface of the product. The positive result of a frozen food test can be explained by the genetic material of dead viruses remaining there, experts say.

The USA creates an anti-Chinese coalition

The U.S. has revised its policy toward China since President Richard Nixon.

The U.S. administration considers China its main adversary in the world. This was announced by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday, September 28.

“The greatest external threat to the U.S. in the medium and long term is the threat from the regime in China, the Communist Party of China, led by Secretary-General Xi Jinping,” he said.

According to him, the U.S. has revised the policy adopted with respect to China since President Richard Nixon. The previous U.S. approach, according to which interaction with China will make its foreign policy less hegemonic, and domestic less repressive — failed, said the head of the State Department.

“Now we have begun building a global coalition to oppress China. It will take years,” he said. According to Pompeo, the U.S. has already achieved success in recognizing the threat from China in the countries of Africa, South Asia, and South America.

The head of the State Department also noted China’s dependence on energy resources of the Middle East. In this connection, Beijing is expanding its influence in the Indian Ocean, which carries risks for the countries of Europe and the Middle East, he emphasized.

As previously reported, the U.S. and China noted the progress in the implementation of the first phase of the Sino-U.S. trade deal and expressed readiness for the next steps.

Trump re-blames China for the start of the COVID-19 pandemic

US President Donald Trump, against the backdrop of an increase in the number of deaths of patients with coronavirus in the country to 200 thousand, urged on Tuesday to remember that the pandemic came from China.

“I think if we hadn’t acted in the right way, right, there would have been 2.5 million deaths,” he told reporters before his trip to Pennsylvania. “The numbers would have been much larger. You saw my speech to the General Assembly UN, China should have stopped the coronavirus at its borders, not let the virus spread around the world.“

“This is a terrible thing. But we are not closing the country, we are working well in terms of opening the country (economic recovery after the sanitary restrictions imposed by the pandemic), markets are growing,” said the head of the White House. 2.5 or 3 million deaths. This horrible thing [pandemic] shouldn’t ever happen. China allowed this to happen, just remember it.“

Trump, speaking at the high-level general political debate of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, said the organization should hold China accountable for the outbreak of the pandemic. The American leader has many times accused the Chinese authorities of allegedly taking insufficiently active measures to prevent an outbreak of the disease.

Trump at the UN called for China to be punished for the coronavirus

The American president has many times laid the blame for the spread of coronavirus in the world on China. Now he did it at the UN General Assembly.

U.S. President Donald Trump during his speech at the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, September 22, once again called for China to be held responsible for the emergence of a coronavirus pandemic.

The head of the White House blames China for the fact that in the early stages of the spread of Beijing has not banned international flights from its territory, thus allowing “infecting the world.

In addition to China, Trump was criticized by the World Health Organization.

“We will distribute the vaccine, defeat the virus, end the pandemic and usher in a new era of unprecedented prosperity, cooperation, and peace,” Trump said.

China has already responded to the allegations, calling them groundless.

Trump, however, urged the UN to focus on “real-world problems”.

“For the UN to be an effective organization, it must focus on real-world problems. These include terrorism, harassment of women, forced labor, drug trafficking, human trafficking, including for sexual exploitation, religious persecution, and ethnic cleansing of religious minorities,” he said.

Trump recalled the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan as well as participation in Middle East peace agreements.

“After decades of lack of progress, Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain signed a historic White House peace agreement,” the U.S. president recalled when he announced several other agreements.

In addition, the U.S. leader also said that the United States “breathed new life” into NATO.

Recall that the outbreak of a new coronavirus was recorded in late 2019 in China. Later it spread to most countries. The World Health Organization declared it a pandemic on March 11.

Trump has repeatedly stated that he has increasing anger against China because of the spread of coronavirus around the world, as the pandemic has caused enormous damage to the United States.

Trump has also repeatedly called COVID-19 the “Chinese virus” or ‘Wuhan virus”.
