The Swiss regulator has approved the use of a coronavirus vaccine developed by the American company Moderna.

The Swissmedic regulator decided that the vaccine meets all safety, efficacy, and quality requirements and can be used immediately after the January 12 decision.
Swissmedic recommended adhering to a 14-day interval between two doses of the vaccine and cautioned against combining different vaccines, as there is no information about their compatibility.
This is the second vaccine to receive approval in Switzerland — after Pfizer / BionTech, which received approval back on Dec. 20, one day earlier than in the EU.
Switzerland has contracted 7.5 million doses of the Moderna vaccine, 200,000 of which are due to arrive in the country on January 13.
Recall that the Moderna vaccine was approved in the EU and the UK last week.
As reported, due to the alarming situation with the coronavirus, the Swiss federal government plans to extend the hard lockdown until the end of February.
