Super-fast coronavirus test developed in Poland

A very fast and relatively cheap  test was developed at the DNA Research Center in the Polish city of Poznan.

As with the PCR test, a throat and nose swab is taken for a new test, but the results are known within minutes. The cost of one test is PLN 80. Experts plan to start serial production of the dough next week.

The new test is based on the principle of loop isothermal amplification (LAMP), which allows the activation of  molecules in a test tube. The procedure takes place in a special portable amplifier (amplifier) with sample heating.

“Our LAMP tests are biogenic and other centers around the world are also working on such a test. However, most of them are working on monogenic tests, ” said the director of the Center, Mariusz Herman.

has already ordered a large batch of 250 thousand tests. Negotiations are underway on supplies to Russia, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan.

At the moment, at the DNA Research Center in Poznan, specialists are also developing a test for susceptibility to COVID-19 with predicting the severity of the course of the disease. The first batches of such tests will enter the market this year.
