The national police of Spain stopped the activities of a criminal group that was engaged in the illegal trade of marijuana at the international level. This is stated in a press release issued on Monday by law enforcement agencies.
According to them, the operation took place in the province of Girona (the Autonomous community of Catalonia). Police detained 13 people-citizens of Russia, Venezuela, Latvia, as well as citizens of Spain. Among those arrested is the leader of a criminal organization.
The investigation began in February this year. The group used a warehouse located in an industrial area in the village of Vidreres to store drugs. International transport trucks were used to transport marijuana to other European countries. In particular, the police intercepted a truck near the border with France, which was hidden 180 kg of marijuana.
