Spain refused to purchase the AstraZeneca vaccine

Spain has refused the AstraZeneca vaccine

The Spanish Ministry of Health has decided to no longer purchase a vaccine against coronavirus infection from the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca.

At the moment, the stocks of the drug are being transferred to autonomous communities in order to “ complete the vaccination of residents over 60 years old.”

It is specified that Spain was supposed to purchase 31 million doses of the vaccine, but due to the detection of side effects, only 10.3 million doses of the drug were delivered to the country.

In March, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) reported that a possible link between vaccination against coronavirus with a drug developed by AstraZeneca and the formation of blood clots is not proven at the moment, but it is possible.
