The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain explained the reason why two ships of the Russian Navy were not allowed into the port in Ceuta.
According to the ministry, Russia did not provide the necessary documentation for the anchorage. “Spain did not refuse the Russian ships to enter the port of the autonomous city of Ceuta,” the Kingdom’s Foreign Ministry said.
Earlier, the Spanish Foreign Ministry banned two Russian Navy ships — the large anti-submarine ship “Vice-Admiral Kulakov” and the rescue tugboat “Altai” — to enter the port. Madrid requested information about the route and destination of the Russian ships. Russia did not give any information.
The ships stopped 46 kilometers off the Algerian coast. It is unknown about the further actions of the crews.
