This past weekend, bad weather hit northern Italy and the Adriatic coast of Croatia.
In the northern regions of Italy, trees and power transmission poles collapsed under the weight of falling sleet. About seven thousand houses were left without electricity. Euronews reports.
The highway between South Tyrol and Austria was blocked. On Sunday morning, snowblowers were unable to completely clear some sections of the highway between Vipiteno and Brenner.
Winter storms also wreaked havoc on Croatia’s Adriatic coast. Winds of up to 130 km / h hit the cities of Split and Sibenik in central Dalmatia, blocking all ferry services to the Croatian islands.
Tourists were advised to avoid coastal roads. In the coming days, according to forecasts, rain is also expected in the commune of Nonantola.
Also, heavy snowfalls and rains caused a traffic collapse in Austria. An avalanche warning has been announced in East Tyrol.
