People with blood group O (I) are less likely than others to be at risk of contracting coronavirus.
This is reported by the Daily Sabah with reference to two studies.
11 scientists in Denmark analyzed data from 473 thousand people tested on COVID-19. And they concluded that blood group O has a lower susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 infection.
The study also found that people with blood types A, B, and AB are at a higher risk of thrombosis — the clotting of blood inside a blood vessel — and cardiovascular disease, which are serious comorbidities among hospitalized COVID-19 patients.
Similar results were obtained in a Canadian medical study conducted by 14 researchers.
