Ryanair and Wizz Air have more passengers for the first time in a year

Airlines will clearly not be able to fully recover from the “COVID” collapse of passenger traffic soon — so far they are using less than half of their potential

Europe’s largest low-cost airlines, Ryanair and Wizz Air, recorded an increase in passenger numbers for the first time in 14 months.

Ryanair carried 1 million passengers in April. For comparison: last year, traffic for the same month amounted to 40 thousand people, and the loss of passenger traffic in 2020 was up to 99%.

Wizz Air reported 564,000 passengers in April. In April-2020, the airline transported 78 thousand people.

This is stated in the reports of Ryanair and Wizz Air for April, the AllianceNews agency reported.

In 2021, Ryanair plans to carry up to 70% of the usual number of passengers in the summer months. At the same time, in Ukraine, Ryanair restores only a third of the board-shaped “summer” flights. And Wizz Air has used only 22% of its normal load over the past month.
