Russia will give Belarus half a billion dollars of credit

In the near future, Minsk will receive from Moscow the second tranche of the loan in the amount of $500 million out of a total amount of $1.5 billion.

Press Secretary of the President of  Dmitry Peskov, following the talks between and Alexander Lukashenko, noted that the leaders of the two countries discussed the tranche of $500 million, the situation with the Ryanair plane, and other issues, Radio Liberty reports.

In the near future, Minsk will receive from Moscow the second tranche of the loan in the amount of $500 million out of a total amount of $1.5 billion. According to Peskov, “there are no obstacles” since “everything has already been agreed” between Putin and Lukashenko on this issue.

“At the initiative of the President of Russia, the topic of a Russian citizen who was detained, who is now in a pre-trial detention center, was raised. Of course, we are not indifferent to her fate, but we also take into account the fact that she really has a residence permit in Belarus, “ Peskov said.

We are talking about a Russian woman, Sofia Sapegi, who has detained on board a Ryanair plane. Putin instructed the Russian Foreign Ministry to closely monitor the fate of the Sapieha case.

Recall that this is the third personal meeting between Alexander Lukashenko and since the beginning of 2021. The first was held in February in Sochi, the second in April in Moscow.

The meeting took place against the background of the incident with the Ryanair plane, which was landed in Minsk for the detention of Belarusian opposition leader Roman Protasevich and his girlfriend Sofia Sapieha.
