Pence predicts U.S. coronavirus surge

In the United States, the number of positive PCR tests for coronavirus is on the rise in ten Midwestern states.

US Vice President Michael Pence, speaking at the White House on Monday, said that the number of US residents infected with the new coronavirus will increase in the coming days.

According to him, the number of people infected with coronavirus has sharply increased in parts of the American states.

“The American public should expect the number of [infections] to rise in the coming days,” said the US deputy chief of staff.

According to Johns Hopkins University, which calculates on the basis of reports from the American authorities, WHO, and other official sources, more than 7.1 million cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded in the United States, and almost 205 thousand people have died. On both counts, the United States ranks first in the world.

Earlier, German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed concern about the development of the coronavirus epidemic in the country and warned of more than 19 thousand infections per day by Christmas.
