NATO countries are going to increase commercial and military activity in the Arctic in the coming years. This statement was made by the Supreme Commander of the United Armed Forces (OVS) of the alliance in Europe, Todd Walters, during an online conference of the Atlantic Council.

“Since we mentioned the Arctic, our goal is to consider the possibility of increasing our activity there from a commercial and military point of view,” the general said.

According to him, in particular, the American side and NATO intend to secure navigation for commercial vessels in international waters, the rules of which are violated by Russia and China.
